Tamunotonye Boma Claude-Wilcox was the second of the four children of Chief and late Dr. (Mrs) Claude-Wilcox of Bonny, Rivers state. He had two brothers and a sister.
Tonye, as he was fondly called, spent most of his early years in Port Harcourt.
He attended the Federal Government College Port Harcourt, and went on to study Banking and Finance at the University of Port Harcourt, before going on to pursue his post graduate studies at the Middlesex University London.
Tonye started his career at Sahara Energy. Later on, he became a dynamic and successful businessman, having left Sahara Energy to set up the oil brokerage firm, Petroleum Brokers Limited, where he served as the Chief Executive Officer until 2011.
He married Banke Claude-Wilcox with whom he had a son and a daughter. He enjoyed Karate, and was also very passionate about motorcycling. He was well known as a biker, and enjoyed long distance rides, often riding with his biker brothers from Nigeria to various African countries. He was a founding member of one of the motorcycling clubs in Lagos.
In early 2011, Tonye died in a tragic bike-related accident, on his way to attend a fellow biker’s wedding. The accident occurred around Ihiala in Anambra State.
Tonye was a great man. He was down-to-earth, generous, kind-hearted, loving and selfless.
He will forever be in our hearts…
